Closed Kartoa Bridge, Residents block roads to demand alternative measures

Crack in Karatoya bridge on the way due to Ghazaldoba, The bridge has been closed. Residents blocked the road demanding alternative arrangements for travel. Residents protested by blocking the road at Parmunda intersection on Ghazaldoba Fulbari Canal Road on Friday. To go from Siliguri to Ghazaldoba you have to go through that canal road. On the way, some distance from the railway overbridge in the Sahudangi area, the bridge over the Karotwa river in the Shimulguri area has failed, so the movement of vehicles has been stopped since December 18. Due to this, the residents are facing problems.

On this day, the besiegers said, Most of the people of Mantadari Gram Panchayat and surrounding areas are dependent on Siliguri. Some of them go to Siliguri daily to sell vegetables or fish, some as day laborers or for various needs. Due to the closure of that road they are in dire straits. Students are facing more problems in going to schools and colleges and taking patients to hospitals. To travel to Siliguri via Ambari on a circuitous route, one has to travel a long way and due to the Ambari rail gate, one has to get stuck for a long time. Due to this, they demanded an alternative system.

Mantadari village panchayat president Deepak Biswas, block president of Trinamool Youth Congress Tusharkanti Dutta and local public representatives rushed to the spot after getting the news. Trinamool Youth Congress block president Tusharkanti Dutta said, Thousands of people travel on this route every day. So I will talk to BDO and MLA about making a diversion bridge.
