Chief Minister grants recognition to 210 Rajbanshi language schools in Cooch Behar
Cooch Behar, January 29, 2024: Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Monday granted recognition to 210 Rajbanshi language schools in Cooch Behar. The Chief Minister was attending a government service delivery event organized by the Cooch Behar district administration. She also inaugurated 198 projects at the event.
The Chief Minister's announcement was met with widespread excitement among the Rajbanshi community, who thanked her for fulfilling their long-standing demand for education in their own language.
"The Rajbanshi community has been demanding education in their own language for a long time," the Chief Minister said. "Today, we have fulfilled that demand. 210 Rajbanshi language schools have been granted government recognition. From now on, the teachers of these schools will be paid salaries, and the students will have access to all the facilities." She added, "We are working for the development of the Rajbanshi community."
Rajbanshi is a regional language spoken in West Bengal. It is spoken in the districts of Cooch Behar, Alipurduar, Jalpaiguri, and Uttar Dinajpur.
